Channel Service member rules
The following rules are followed by all ChatNet Channel Service members. Any member abusing their
rights or breaking the rules should be reported to the heads of Channel Service
(staff@chatnet.gg, or the team in #doghouse).
ChatNet Channel Service rules
- Never use your position and access to K9 to threaten or coerce a user.
- You should not
auth for a channel unless one of the following is true:
- You are, or are considered, a channel operator or channel master for that channel.
- You are performing Channel Service duties at the request of the channel master or of a channel
operator with access on that channel.
- If you are a channel operator on a channel with less than 500 level access, you should still consider
yourself as such on that channel and act in accordance with that level.
- In a channel where you have been invited to act as a channel operator, knowing you are a Channel
Service member with full staff access (level 600 and above), it is best to ask first what the channel
master would expect of you or allow you to do, so that you know what access level the channel master is
giving you. For example: if the channel master allows you 500 access, you are free to use up to level 500
commands.
- If a channel, in which you are not considered to be the channel master or a channel operator, is moded
in such a way that one cannot enter without the use of global access, you should not attempt to enter, but
message someone with a request to enter, just as any other user would have to do. For example: if a channel
is
+i, do not use global access to have the service invite you or to set the channel
-i. The exception to this is a channel takeover.
- Always respect the channel masters of every channel as having full and final authority in that channel,
and the channel operators with service access as being the agents of, and working in the interests and under
the direction of, that channel master. If a channel master or channel operator is abusive, do not retaliate
via global access: bring that information and the log of the confrontation to the heads of Channel Service
for further handling.
- A channel master or channel operator has the right to kick or ban anyone from their channel at any
time, for any reason, including a Channel Service member if that is their desire. Any ban set by a
legitimate channel operator of that channel against a Channel Service member must by no means be tampered
with or removed. Such an incident should be reported to the heads of Channel Service, who will determine
the action to be taken, if any.
- All problems not concerning the channel service (flooders, user-to-user disputes, etc.) brought to
#doghouse are to be directed to the IRC operators in #chatnet.
These are the rules of the original ChatNet Channel Service, kept for the team of K9.
